Hellooooooo my friends who are like me and hate complicated eyeshadow! I LOVE wearing eyeshadow and trying new shades but I also only like to spend 5-10 mins on it and only use a few shades. I struggled for so many years just feeling like it always looked off or faded halfway through the day. If that sounds like you too, then read on! So finally after practicing almost daily for 2 years, I felt like I got pretty good at eyeshadow! (Okay people we’re talking everyday eyes not those crazy dimensional and gorgeous YouTube eye looks!! Haha maybe someday!) And I realized that there's mainly just 3 key apsects or “secrets” of mastering everyday eyeshadow and today I want to share those with you! SECRET ONE: Tools matter! Seriously the biggest impact you can make on your eyeshadow skills is getting a good quality brush (or two). I couldn't believe the difference my eye looks had by simply switching out my shitty $2 eye brush. I upgraded to the “Eyeshadow Everything” brush from Maskcara Beauty and it's been my -ride or die only used- eye brush for 2.5 years! I love that it's double sided and each side can do any look you want! The fluffy side is the real hero though. It applies your shadows soft and effortless and blends like a DREAM. Oh and did I mention it's freaking feathery soft?!

Speaking of tools, the next obvious step would be using good quality shadows! With most things, you get what you pay for. High quality shadows will blend easier, last longer, have more pigment and less fall out under your eyes. There's plenty out there to choose from but I use and love the shadows from Maskcara Beauty. I love that they're pigmented, soft, long lasting.. but most of all, I love that you can CUSTOM BUILD YOUR OWN PALETTE. (I give you permission to break up with your giant half-used palette now) You get to choose your compact design and what shadows YOU like in it. Just want two neutrals? Cool. Want 3 pinks and 1 gold? Awesome! Want 1 pink, 1 green, 1 brown, 1 golden brown, 1 purply pink, and 1 fun sparkle just for the heck of it?! You get the idea… :)

SECRET TWO: Blend blend blend!! I started to see a real difference in my eye looks when I took a little more time to actually apply and blend. This is where that brush I mentioned is AMAZING. The fluffy side is perfect for effortless and smooth blending. And remember how I said I don't like to spend a ton of time on my eyeshadow? That brush helps blend it smooth and FAST. I like to sort of dot on some shadow and then swirl my brush in small circular motions over the edges to get that soft blur. Avoiding harsh lines and uneven spots of shadow is the key to a beautiful everyday eyeshadow look!

SECRET THREE: Use complimentary colors. If you're a beginner at eyeshadow or you just want to improve the look of your everyday eyeshadow then a great tip is to start with just 2-3 shadows that are complimentary or similar in shade (like light pink, medium mauve, and dark pink) I'll share some shade combo ideas below! When you keep similar colors, you can still add dimension without worrying about colors not blending perfectly together or one color standing out too much. You'll get a perfect and natural look every time!
